Film to honor Don Wallis

"August To June" is a must see film for parents, educators, and everyone who cares about children and educators. This remarkable film, with local connections, documents an amazing public school program in California that glimmers with hope and creates a model for educating our most precious resource.

Tom Valens, a 1969 graduate of Antioch College, decided to film his wife, Amy’s, 30th and final year of teaching to capture the essence of the school’s unconventional program. Amy, a 1968 Antioch College graduate, did her student teaching at The Antioch School in 1966-67."

A free screening of August To June will be held at The Little Art Theatre in Yellow Springs on Sunday, October 14 at 4 p.m. Amy Valens will attend the screening and lead an after movie discussion.

The screening, sponsored by The Antioch School, is to honor the memory of Don Wallis, a tireless advocate of progressive education and an avid supporter of The Antioch School. Donations to The Antioch School Don Wallis Scholarship Fund will be accepted.
