Afterschool Chess is coming back to the Elementary School! Last year’s Introduction of Chess in the Antioch School was a huge success! This year’s program will hopefully be expanding to include both Middle School and Elementary School in the Village for afterschool Chess Learning & Playing.
K-6 Grade Chess
Every Friday beginning November 2nd.
3:35-5:30pm
Founder of Mister Omar’s Chess Academy, I will bring my fun and accessible approach to seven after-school sessions of instructional chess designed for all students in Elementary School. I will be selecting a team of bright minds to represent Us -- Yellow Springs -- in our yearly Chess Tournament -- The Queen City Classic. So come see if your child has what it takes to be a part of the YellowSprings Kings.
Chess will meet every Friday beginning November 2nd, 2012 from 3:35-5:30 pm for 7 weeks. Each two-hour session will include one hour of chess instruction and play, and one hour of snack, homework, board games and playground. I need parent Volunteers -- 1 parent for 1 session -- so total help needed is 7 parent(s) for duration of class. The fee is $50. Scholarships are available.
I am still finalizing my location for the class. After School Chess will either be @ the Presbyterian Church like last year or back @ the Library in Mills Lawn like 2 years ago. I prefer the Library at Mills Lawn & am waiting for the green light to be back where I started - the good ol' library at Mills Lawn!
