AACW Blues, Jazz & Gospel Fest
August 23-26

African American Cross-Cultural Works hosts a full weekend of music.

The festival will begin August 23 at 7:00 pm at Peach’s Grill 104 Xenia Avenue, Yellow Springs featuring Blooz ‘n’ Pomes.  This will be a poetry open mic open to the public.  Poets will be backed by a blues band featuring headliners from the festival. Blooz ‘n’ Pomes will continue until the poets and musicians run out of words and music.

On Friday, August 24, the festival will move to the Antioch College Amphitheater on Corry Street in Yellow Springs. There will be a variety of vendors as well as the following performers: Preston Shannon, Audio Show Band, Carl Shumacher Band, Larry Humphrey Band, Karen Patterson and the 5YZ Men.

Saturday, August 25 will be from noon-2 p.m. with a blues workshop hosted by Festival Performing Artists.  This will be followed by Innovation Stage performances by a variety of area musicians from 2-5 p.m.  Evening performers include: Veronika Jackson, Preston Shannon, 5 YZ Men, Dean Sims Hot Notes Band, Nerak Roth Patterson Band, Bluzion

The festival will culminate on Sunday August 26 with a Gospel Fest and Basket Meeting. The Gospel Fest will consist of live performances from local, national and international gospel artists. The Basket Meeting is an old time community tradition similar to a community potluck where participants are encouraged to pack a picnic lunch and socialize. Join us for the ‘Basket Meeting’ – Music starts at 5:00!
