Recognition for YS sculptor here and abroad
"Synchronicity X: I Am the Light of the World" is the title of the sculpture by world-class sculptor and Yellow Springs resident Jon Barlow Hudson. The 16-foot-tall granite sculpture was installed on the campus of Cedarville University in 2008.
Hudson recently returned from a sculpture symposium in Abu Dhabi. On his way home through Beijing, he stopped to attend the unveiling of his latest sculpture, "Cloud & Rain," part of the China-US Peace & Friendship program. This program features four U.S. sculptures being installed in China and four Chinese sculptures being installed in the U.S.
Currently Hudson is working on the firefighter memorial, "Firewall," which will be installed in Stubbs Park in Centerville. To see more of his work, visit www.hudsonsculpture.com.

New outdoor seating at Williams Eatery
Williams Eatery owner Lawren Williams has added a side section for outdoor eating and people-watching. As soon as the tables and chairs were in place, he filled them with visitors who had traveled to town with their dogs and were looking for a suitable place to eat.
Later, he confessed, "I hadn't even thought about that!" Once he realized what a perfect solution it was for that situation, he was even more excited about the new addition.
Watch for an additional back patio to open this summer that will include a stage area for local musicians.

Women's clothing store "opens" at Bryan Center
Yellow Springs High School senior Molly Turner (right) assists a "customer" at her Clothes Swap.
"On Saturday, March 27th, I had my YSHS senior project Clothes Swap at the John Bryan Community Center and the turn out far exceeded my expectations. Over all there were about 35 people who came and all seemed to be very pleased with the clothes that they received. There was music, snacks and fun all around. I am very thankful for all the help and support I received from my friends and family and I want to give a special thanks to Susan Gartner who has done nothing but provide help and give many great ideas for the swap. Without the lovely people in my life this would not have been as successful as it was.
"As a result of the success and comments made by the people who came, I would love for this to become an annual event in Yellow Springs. I think many people would agree. There were about 7-8 large trash bags of clothes left over that will be donated to the women's shelter in Springfield. Thanks to all who came and I hope everyone had a great time!"
