How would you like to participate, right here in Yellow Springs, in one
of the largest globally-synchronized meditation and prayer events in
history?
On September 21, 2012, the 30th Annual International Day
of Peace, hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals
worldwide will join together as ONE for BeThePeace. BeThePeace will
feature public meditation/prayer events in hundreds of cities worldwide,
starting at 6pm in local time zones, and creating a profound planetary
wave of peace.
As part of this global event, and in collaboration
with the Yellow Springs Experience Wellness Fair Weekend, local
meditation teachers Denise Runyon, Tom Malcolm and Lynda Terry, will
host a BeThePeace silent meditation at the Art Park, 100 Corry St., on
Friday, September 21st, from 6-7pm.
The group silent meditation
is free and open to all, and you don’t need to have formal meditation
training or experience. All you need is an open heart, a longing for
peace in our world, and a willingness to sit peacefully in silence with
others. You can join in for a few minutes or the entire hour. Seating
will be on the benches in the Art Park or on the ground. Feel free to
bring a cushion or pillow if you like, or a lightweight folding chair,
and dress comfortably for the weather (forecast is for 30% chance of
rain and temps in 70s).
BeThePeace also will host three Global
Attunements for Peace during the day when everyone can connect via
telecast at the same time: 12am, 12noon, and 12 midnight EDT, creating
three deep planetary pulses of peace. And throughout the day, people
will be able to connect virtually via a Global Care Room, in which
people can ‘see’ each other as points of light on a spinning Google
Earth map, providing a stunning visual image of the global field forming
in real time before your eyes.
A guided meditation recording,
created especially for the daylong event by Yellow Springs resident
Lynda Terry and her son, musician Nathan Veshecco, will be featured as
part of the Global Care Room experience.
